How to Play Idaho Pick 4

One of the most exciting parts of Idaho Pick 4 is the flexibility you have as a player - you have more control over different aspects of the game than you do with most lotteries. Follow the guide below to help you fill out a playslip.

Make sure to buy your tickets before sales close. The cut-off time is five minutes before draws take place at 1:59 PM MT and 7:59 PM MT.

Pick a Wager Type

Decide how you want to try to match the numbers - Exact Order, Any Order, or Exact/Any. You can even try to match just two numbers with a Front, Mid or Back Pair. See the Ways to Play page to learn more about each wager type.

Choose Your Numbers
Choose Your Numbers

Select four numbers between 0 and 9. The numbers are presented in four columns on a playslip so you just need to mark one from each line. If you can't decide, select Quick Pick and the lottery computer will give you a random set.

There are three price points in Pick 4. You can play for just $1, wager $2 or put down $5 per play. The more you wager, the greater your potential payout. It is possible to win up to $25,000 for a $5 Exact Order play.

Add Sum it up
Add Sum it up

Say 'Yes' to Sum it up if you want to give yourself another way to win. If the sum of your numbers is the same as the total of the winning digits, you land a prize. It's an Idaho-only feature that doubles the cost of a wager.

Multi Draw

Use the Multi-Draw section to make sure you don't miss out on Pick 4. You can play up to a maximum of 70 consecutive draws. The total cost is based on the number of draws, your wager amount and whether you added Sum it up!

How Sum it up Works

Sum it up is just a way to increase your chances of winning. You don't need to do anything apart from adding the option to your play, although you might want to think about the sum of your numbers when they are added together. If the total of your numbers matches the sum of the four winning digits, you win a prize. It doesn't even matter if none of the numbers are the same. Here is an example:

The sum of both sets of numbers in this example is the same, so you win the corresponding prize. Each possible sum (from 0 to 36) has an associated payout based on the likelihood of the numbers adding up to that figure.

You cannot play Sum it up with a Front, Mid or Back Pair wager type.

Odds and Prizes

To win a Pick 4 prize (without Sum it up), you have to match the numbers you have selected and meet the requirements of your wager type. For example, if you play an Exact Order wager, you must get all four digits in the correct position. The probability of winning is different for each play type. Go to the Odds and Prizes page for a table showing all the payouts, plus one for Sum it up!
